There are game shows in which participants make good money by winning ! ~there may not be instances of a contestant awarded a free car worth Rs.14 lakhs approx, thanks to a blunder by the gameshow model mistakenly exposing the right answer !!! In mid-1980s"Quiz Time" in Doordarshan conducted by Siddhartha Basu was a big hit.Perhaps it was the harbinger of similar knowledge shows on media. There was Kavita Agarwal, later Radha Seth as hostess, who would simply say 'the quiz master's decision is final !'

In a Crazy Mohan comedy drama - there would be a Quiz, where one would set-up the other 2 teams to enable their easy win.One Q would be - who was the first PM of India ~the Master would provide the clue too, as starting with N and ending with Ru [in Tamil with no word in between !] - even that would not be answered. Then a photo would be shown - that card would change cards, where the man would say - it is Sunil Gavaskar, for it is written below... [they would have forgotten to cut the description in that page !!!]

The post is about the contest - "The Price is Right".Drew Carey, American Actor, comedian, Sports executive is the game show host. After serving in the U.S. Marine Corps and making a name for himself in stand-up comedy, Carey eventually gained popularity and has hosted comedy shows. Carey has appeared in several films, television series, music videos, a made-for-television film, and a computer game. He has hosted the television game show 'The Price Is Right' since 2007.

The Price Is Right is a television game show franchise originally produced by Mark Goodson and Bill Todman, and created by Bob Stewart, and is currently produced and owned by Fremantle Media. The franchise centers on television game shows, but also includes merchandise such as video games, printed media and board games. The franchise began in 1956 as a television game show hosted by Bill Cullen and was revamped in 1972. Since 2007, Drew Carey has hosted the program.

In the show, contestants compete to win cash and prizes by guessing the pricing of merchandise. The program has managed to break away from the quiz show format that has been used in other game shows. Since the current version premiered, it has also been adapted in several international formats around the world, most notably in the United Kingdom, Australia and Mexico. The original version involved four contestants bidding on a wide array of merchandise prizes, whose values ranged anywhere from a few dollars, (in many cases, "bonus" prizes were attached after the fact, to the winner) to thousands, doing so in the manner of auctions except that the gamehost did not act out the role of auctioneer (contestants tried to bid closest to the product's actual retail price without going over that price). Depending on the prize, contestants were allowed, in proper turn, to make multiple bids; or only allowed one bid. Viewers would submit their bids via post cards; the winner being announced on the air. At the end of each episode, the contestant who had won the most (by dollar value) was declared the winner and became the returning champion, entitled to play again in the next episode.

In one of its recent episodes occurred the astonishing gaffe by six-year game show veteran Manuela Arbelaez select giving away the winning price for a brand-new sedan before the contestant even had a chance to guess. The $29,000 blunder gave on a platter a new car to a contestant without having to take a chance even asManuela accidentally revealed the price.

Contestant Andrea was given three chances to guess the price tag of a Hyundai Sonata SE.After model Manuela Arbelaez removed a card to reveal that Andrea's first guess was wrong, she accidentally removed another, unveiling the correct answer. Both the host Drew Carey and contestant Andrea could not believe the blunder."I won it!" screamed Andrea, who was over the moon. Host Drew Carey laughed: "Hey, congratulations! Manuela just gave you a car!"The car was worth $US21,960 [Rs. 14 lakhs]

The embarrassed model Manuela Abrelaez hugged Andrea after the blunder. While many doubted that this blunder would cost her the show,Arbelaez eventually came around, sharing some funny posts on Twitter stating that nothing untoward happened.

Manuela Arbeláez Correa, is a Colombian-born American model and actress.Arbeláez became one of the finalists during the 2008 season of Nuestra Belleza Latina, a beauty contest/reality show hybrid airing on the U.S. Spanish-language television channel Univision placing sixth in the competition. Later that year, Arbeláez was one of the five finalists in The Price Is Right Model Search contest. Each of the finalists appeared as a model on an episode of the game show in Oct2008n] The winner was chosen by an internet fan vote and won the opportunity to tape five additional episodes. Although Arbeláez did not win the contest, she impressed the producers of The Price Is Right and was hired as a model for the show.
