Hora Douse – ‘Outgrow/Anything’

Signed to our friends Beth Shalom (digitally) and Rose Coloured (physically), Manchester trip Hora Douse have unveiled the video for new two-in-one single ‘Outgrow/Anything’. Influenced by emo heavyweights including The Hotelier and Manchester Orchestra and featuring backing vocals by Kamikaze Girls’ Lucinda Livingstone, this track has been recorded and mixed by Bob Cooper (who’s produced all your favorite bands) and mastered by Carl Saff.

The opening ‘Outgrow’ is a sparse, quiet and emotional piece that finds Tom Lee poring his heart out about relationship troubles and mental health issues: ‘There is nothing left that I could say that’d drive you further away’. As the song breaks into the more experimental and riff-heavy Into It. Over It.-esque ‘Anything’ (which represents the confusion anxiety can bring), the lyrics become even more powerful and personal: ‘I have imagined a future, it’s a quiet look and your concern, “Tom, you know you’re not alone, please take that noose off your collarbone.”; ‘Finding footing in someone else is a little tough when no one’s around. You’re still within a couple of miles, please stick around for a little while, we could talk about anything.’

Buy the single from Beth Shalom Records (digital) or Rose Coloured Records (cassette)
