Hopelessly Devoted by @katetempest

By Pamelascott
And life lived without love Is not life enough.

Chess is in prison. Facing a lengthy sentence, her cell mate, Serena, becomes her soul mate. But when Serena is given parole, Chess faces total isolation.

Hope comes in the form of a music producer looking for a reason to love music again. She finds a powerful voice in Chess. But to harness her talent, Chess must first face her past.

Featuring Kate Tempest's trademark lyrical fireworks and live music, this is a story of love and redemption.

So, regular readers of my blog will know I am an uber Kate Tempest fan. I cannot get enough of her vocals when I listen to her recordings or her words when I read them. I rarely read plays but had to get a copy of Tempest's two. Hopelessly Devoted is great. I loved the characters of Chess, Serena and Silver. They are brilliantly written. The tenderness and love between Serena and Chess touched me to the core. Hopelessly Devoted is touching, sad, funny and breath-taking. I'd love to have seen the play live and listen to the songs though.
