As some of you may know me & my husband recently moved
into our new house. We didn’t live together before we got married, tradition
and all & after the wedding we lived with my parents for a year while we
waited for the perfect house, we found that perfect house & we’ve been here
for about 5 weeks. We had to furnish the house from scratch which was really
fun. We both have the same taste which is really handy so there were no arguments!
I’ll be doing a series of 4 blog posts to share with you
some of the things we bought. Some of the things in the posts are wedding
presents from our amazing family & friends.
So this post is a lounge/living room haul, I hope you enjoy
:-)
Thank you to my amazing family for the cards!
This is the sofa we decided on, we went with the 3 seater Zamba
sofa from SCS, we wanted something kind of small but cosy & comfortable,
this is just perfect, I love the color & it’s super comfortable, perfect
for lounging on while watching my favorite TV program, it comes with 2
matching cushions, The cat cushion is from Tesco, I couldn’t resist it being a
crazy cat lady!
These are a couple of decorative items we have on top of our
side board, I can’t remember where the cat candle holder is from but how cute!!
The candle inside is also so pretty, the nest 3 candles are from Dunelm but you
can pretty much buy them from most home stores.
I found this jar in a 99p shop & thought it was be a
nice quirky way to store sweets so when we have guests round they can help
themselves.
I absolutely love this cactus plant we bought only a couple
of weeks ago, we bought it from my local garden centre, Scotsdales. They had a
very large selection of lots of different types of Cactus plant, this plant
caught my eye with the hint of pink in it, so pretty & it looks really
interesting.
We also bought this nest of solid wood coasters from Scotsdales,
they immediately caught mine & my husband’s eye, it matches our furniture
perfectly and it looks very rustic and different.
We decided to buy our living room furniture from oak
furniture land, they had some really good deals on which meant we got a large
solid oak framed mirror for free with our order. The furniture is really well
made and of course made from solid oak, we went for a cream set which looks
really nice in our lounge, it looks nice & bright and looks perfect with
our sofa and other bits & pieces we have in there. This is our TV stand, it
has 1 large draw and a section for a TV box & x box, we are currently using
the draw to store games & DVD’s.
When I got married I knew I wanted to preserve my bouquet as
a memento of our special day. We had my bouquet and my husband’s button hole
preserved with our order of service, we went for the shabby chic frame which
matches perfectly with our theme and looks so pretty in our lounge. We had our
flowers preserved with the Flower Preservation company & I can’t recommend them
enough, they’re communication with us was great & they’re really friendly
people who done a fantastic job. The whole process took about 9 months, so it’s
a long process but so worth the time & money, it’s quite pricey but like I say,
it’s so worth it.
This is a shelf we’re currently using to place our framed photos
and little bit’s & pieces. I still need to fill all the frames, the characture
was done whilst in Florida 2013, I’m planning to have a second picture done
later this year, I just love them! The faux succulents are from Dunelm &
the cat inscent holder is from Evolution. The Chinese ornament is a really kind & thoughtful gift
from our Chinese friends who my husband used to work with.
This coffee table is another item from Oak Furniture land,
it’s solid oak and cream, it has space underneath to store books or magazines,
it’s the perfect size and looks really pretty!
Again, this side lamp table is from oak furniture land, it
has a small draw and storage underneath. The lamp is from John Lewis, we had
some gift vouchers for John Lewis from my friend Sarah & from Jagex where
my husband currently works (although he’s leaving for a new job in August) my
very dear friend Sarah & I have been friends since we were like 6 years old
& she blogs over at Polka Dot Lemon so definitely check her out, thanks so
much for the gift vouchers :-)
Here is another piece of Oak Furniture land furniture, it’s
our stunning side board with lots of storage featuring 2 large draws & cupboard
space underneath.
My husband keeps his bonsai tree on the side board along with the nest of candles, the cat candle & a photo of my Nana & Grandad
Check back next week for my dining room/kitchen haul
Thank's so much for reading!
