The Alternative Homemade Deodorant

I fell in love with this homemade deodorant from the first time I made it. I especially enjoy the bouquet of aromas from the essential oils. This homemade deodorant soothes the skin and eliminates the armpit odor. I usually apply it right after bath for maximum effect.

The added values are:

  • there are no deodorant crumbs to fall on the floor, which usually happens with my baking soda deodorant;
  • no rashes – I used to have them due to the baking soda, especially if my armpits are just shaved.
  • no stains on the clothes, at least till now.

Too good to be true, right? Try it and believe it by yourself!

Homemade Deodorant Recipe With Essential Oils

Ingredients:

  • 2 Tbsp. Shea Butter (anti-inflammatory, it soothes and calms skin irritations)
  • 2 tsp. beeswax (it solidifies the mixture)
  • 2 Tbsp. Calendula oil infusion (antiseptic, healing, restorative). You can either buy it or make it yourself.
  • 35 drops palmarosa essential oil (strong anti-fungal and anti-bacterial properties with soft rosy smell)
  • 25 drops peppermint essential oil (cooling effect, anti-fungal and anti-bacterial properties)
  • 12 drops lavender essential oil (calming)

Directions:

1. Clean very well the place where you are going to execute your homemade deodorant recipe. Sterilize your utensils and pots. Wash your hands.

2. Put the above quantities of Shea butter and beeswax in a glass container. Then place it into a bowl of hot water till the ingredients melt. Softly shake the glass container from time to time to accelerate the process.

3. Add the Calendula oil infusion to the above mixture and move the bowl from the stove.

4. Add the essential oils and the vitamin E.

5. Pour the mixture into an old deodorant stick (previously sterilized) and leave it to cool. With the above quantities, you will fill 2/3 of a 40 ml deodorant stick.

6. Storage: Keep your homemade deodorant from direct light and heat. I haven’t tried it yet in summer, but I imagine refrigeration will be needed as the Shea butter’s melting point is about 82 F. The shelf life of this homemade natural deodorant is at least 3 months.

Voilà!

I am really eager to hear about your adventures with this homemade deodorant recipe. Enjoy!
