Culture2014 at Tron Theatre

As part of the Commonwealth Games celebrations, Home Nations Fest brings together some excellent theatrical performances.  We were lucky to get invited along to check out “Under Milk Wood” by Dylan Thomas.

From the Tron website “Under Milk Wood brilliantly captures twenty-four hours in the life of a town called Llareggub. With boozy and bawdy characters abound we follow the life of a small seaside town bursting at the seams with dreams, laughter, loves and lusts. From Captain Cat dreaming of his old dead shipmates to Mr Pugh plotting to poison his domineering wife, Under Milk Wood delivers a surreal slice of life that’s as humorous as it is touching.

This raucous new staging of Under Milk Wood brings Dylan Thomas timeless masterpiece to life with searing live folk music, absurd characters and a visually stunning design capturing the heart of play that’s excited audiences for years.”

We were also lucky enough to see Liz Lochead who is presenting master classes at the Tron.

Other works in the Home Nations Festival are Beowulf and Edwin Morgan’s Dreams and Other Nightmares.
