Holidays in Recovery > Holidays in ED

By Awildernesslovestory @dancelittlejean

I had a really beautiful Christmas.  I hope you did, too.

Thinking back to last Christmas, it’s incredible to think how far I’ve come.  I am constantly berating myself for having lost ground (and weight) since coming back from Utah, but when I really look at it — I’ve come really.freaking.far.

I ate french toast on Christmas with barely a second thought.  I ate a normal dinner and didn’t restrict the rest of the day to compensate.  In fact, I even ate popcorn with my family at the movies.  POPCORN, people!  I have not done that in years.  I am usually bringing in a baggie of celery and carrot sticks.

Also, Christmas eve marked seven whole months of my being in recovery.  It’s really hard to believe that I’ve made it that long without totally falling of the wagon.  To be sure, there were times when relapse seemed imminent, but thanks to the support of friends like you, family, and my treatment team, I’ve managed to pull through.

Sure, I’ve got some weight to gain back.  And no, I’m not excited at the prospect.  But I am excited about recovery and all the awesome stuff that comes along with that.

Thanks for all your support guys.  I couldn’t have done it without you.

xoxo
