Holiday Traditions

Holiday Traditionssanta

I cannot believe that this will be Ralph’s third Christmas (he is a summer baby). Since Ralph was born, we have slowly started to form our own family traditions during the holidays. For us, we think it is important to create new memories and traditions as a family of three.

One of my favorite things to do is to go and visit Santa at NorthPark. This is Ralph’s third time to visit him and the third time we are walking away with a picture of him crying in Santa’s lap. Maybe next year we will have better luck?

Another thing we have done since last year was take a carriage ride and go and see the holiday lights. Last year Ralph was taking it all in but this year he was SOOO excited. He was pointing out all the different lights and decorations. He could not get enough!

Out of all the things we have added to our holiday traditions list (dinners with friends, Santa, holiday parties) is Christmas day at home with our family. This is the day I look forward to the most out of the entire year. To me, it is truly the one day a year that the world shuts down and I love every second of it. No e-mails, no nonsense. Just a wonderful day spent at home, usually cozied up by the fire in matching pajamas, watching movies with my little crew. We always make a big breakfast and then usually make an early dinner (Mexican food and margaritas for the win).

This year will probably be the best Christmas day we have had yet because I know Ralph will be SO excited to come downstairs on Christmas morning and see his gifts. He is slowly starting to understand presents and some holiday traditions. It’s amazing how much more fun the holidays can be with a little one and I am so excited (and grateful) to get to spend the holiday season with my two favorite boys.
