But hitch hiking must have been accepted part in a country of travel.Some countries do not accept hitchhiking as a norm or do they take the arguments of a backpacker in saving his hard earned currency for being to be on the roadfor a longer duration.
But this is the best way to save on travel ,time,money and meet some interesting people.You can feel the pulse of the people and culture of the place at one go and the memories will linger a long time to come.But there are few tips to keep in mind.
Tip 1.Hold a placard to show to the driver where you want to go,the name of the town or city.
Tip 2.Look matters a lot and keep yourself clean and tidy and presentable with a cheerful face
Tip 3.Be smart in choosing your partner for travel and travel lightly
Tip 4.Posses an international driving license so that you can help the driver and take vturns in driving and avoid boredom to set in.
Tip 5.Buy a local SIM and always keep your mobile charged for any emergency and have an insurance for you.
Tip 6.Always keep your rucksack within your reach and keep the valuable in your pocket.
Having said all this I had to hitch hike on a motor bike from Banaue Junction to saddle point as I had a sprain in the calf muscle and I could not walk the steep hill.My daughter and her friend had earlier hitch hiked on a mini truck, who was transporting building material for the roadworks to Batad.They reached much in advance and took a guide to reach the Batad Rice terraces.I was sitting in the Tea shop and looking towards the Rainbow magic which was coming up in the sky after a brief rain and enjoying the UNESCO Rice terraces at far off..This blog post is the copyright of http://tobeontheroad.blogspot.com.
