When it comes to the welfare of animals, it’s important that we all chip in and do our share. Some people however, go way above and beyond the norm when it comes to the welfare of animals, and they end up making an enormous impression that makes a huge difference. One of those people is Wendy Valentine, and it is her very organization, Hillside Animal Sanctuary, that we’re going to be looking at today.
About Hillside Animal Sanctuary
Hillside Animal Sanctuary has been around for over two decades now, and it is considered to be one of the most efficient, compassionate, caring, and important animal sanctuaries in the region. Founded back in 1995, the sanctuary was initially created to help to campaign for the welfare of animals in need of help. Not only was the sanctuary created to help animals physically, it was also opened in order to raise awareness of the millions of animals that so desperately need our help every single day. In particular, it was opened in order to raise awareness of just how much animals suffer in the factory farming industry. The sanctuary initially offered safe haven for ponies, horses, donkeys, and other similar animals, though it has also provided a safe haven for thousands of other animals rescued from the factory farming industry.
About Wendy Valentine and Hillside
Despite the fact that Hillside Animal Sanctuary was created in 1995, it’s roots can be traced way back even further, to the 1980s. In 1984, Wendy Valentine – a huge horse enthusiast and animal lover in general, founded Redwings Horse Sanctuary. This laid the foundations for Hillside to be opened a little over a decade later. After witnessing first-hand, just how awful the factory farming industry could be, Wendy knew something had to change. Seeing the conditions that battery hens were kept in, this was the final straw and it encouraged her to make a difference.
Hillside Animal Sanctuary was created, and it grew larger and larger with each passing week. Now, the sanctuary is home to over 3000 animals and is considered to be one of the most successful organizations in the UK for the animal’s cause. The sanctuary campaigns to raise awareness of the plight of animals in the factory farming industry because quite honestly, one of the main reasons why people don’t boycott these industries is because they have no idea just how awful conditions can be.
