I’ve had a love/hate relationship with long dresses every since I can remember. When the maxi dress made it’s comeback a few seasons ago I wasn’t exactly jumping up and down from excitement, since the boho look is just not for me. Because that’s how it started, long flowy boho skirts and printed dresses. It took me a while but around summertime last year I realized that just as every garment, if I want to I can incorporate them into my own style. And I wanted to, because sometimes it’s just warm outside and you don’t want to wear pants but you’re also not in the mood for bare legs and I know I use the word ‘comfy’ as an excuse way too often, but maxi dresses just are. It was around that time last year that I started keeping my eye out for versions of the maxi dress that were me: simple, black or gray but with an edge in the form of fabric or style. Now summer is at our doorsteps again and I just found yet another maxi dress that I really like. It’s simple, it’s gray but has a sexy edge in the form of a high split and open back (not pictured, it’s not high summer yet!). Simple mono dresses like these are pretty much a clean canvas that can be turned into many looks. Make it boho with a crochet cardigan, floppy hat and leather sandals, wear it sporty with sport socks and sneakers and a snapback, or in this case: casual cool (or if you have a better description, please share, I find it SO hard to describe my own style) with a soft bomber jacket and chunky boots. With the backpack and a quick shoe-change into chucks it’s a pretty good contestant for a festival look as well.
Happy Wednesday!
