Prime Day is an annual event which brings along huge deals and discounts on Amazon. The deals and discounts on the Prime Day are are at least as good (if not better!) than Amazon's offers on the Black Friday. This year, Amazon has expanded this special day to 13 countries. Yes, these include India! Other countries that get to celebrate the Prime Day are U.S., U.K., Spain, Japan, Mexico, Italy, Germany, France, Canada, China, Belgium and Austria.
The Prime Day deals will be available exclusively to Amazon Prime members. Prime is a special program of Amazon which provides many benefits to its subscribers. The Prime benefits include:
- Free 1 or 2 day delivery on a large number of products.
- Free standard delivery, no matter what the price of the product bought.
- Exclusive and 30 minute early access to deals and offers on Amazon.
- Membership of Prime Videos. Prime Video subscribers can watch a lot of movies, and shows for free. (See my review of Prime Video).
Prime membership costs Rs. 999 in India. But thanks to introductory discount, it costs just Rs. 499 per year for now.

Prime Day Dates:
The Prime Day will start on 10 th July, 2017 (Monday), 6 pm. It will give Prime members 30 hours of deals and discount offers.
From 5 , six Indian and International shows will be launched on Prime Video. These include India's first Amazon Original, the Inside Edge. It is produced by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani's Excel Media & Entertainment. Inside Edge is a series of 10-episodes and stars Vivek Oberoi, Richa Chadda. Other shows arriving on Prime Video include Star Trek - Beyond (July 5), Deepwater Horizon (July 6), Baahubali: The Lost Legends, Episode 9 (July 7th), Sully (July 8th), Zakir Khan's stand-up comedy special, Haq Se Single (July 9th).
Prime Day Offers:
Prime Day will bring 30 hours of deals and discounts on products spread across various categories. In addition, huge deals are expected on Amazon products like Amazon Fire TV stick (see my post about Fire TV Stick) and Kindle.
Prime Exclusive:
Amazon India's Prime members will be the first to get an access to the launches from over 30 brands. The brands who have lined up their latest launches on the Prime Day include Honor Mobile Phones, IFB, Sharp, LG, ASICS, GAP, Lavie, Rocky S Louis Philippe, Delsey, Lego, Puma, and many more.
20% Extra Cashback on Amazon Pay:
Those who top up their Amazon Pay balance between June 29 to 10 July will get extra 20% cashback (upto Rs. 200/.)
Other Special Offers:
All Prime members who shop on Amazon Prime Day will get assured offers worth Rs.1100/-. These offers will be from MakeMyTrip, BookMyShow and Swiggy.com. Customers who use HDFC Bank debit and credit cards can also get a 15% cashback of upto Rs.2000/ (minimum purchase of Rs. 5000/.)
