Story: Here Before starts when a grieving family of Laura (Riseborough), Brendan (O’Neill) and Taghg (McAskie) get new neighbours in Marie (O’Higgins), Chris (McCann) and daughter Megan (Dornan), Laura finds herself getting a new connection to Megan, who looks like her lost daughter.
As Laura starts getting too close to Megan, it will cause problems between the two families, as things will start to unravel in the lives of the people involved.
Thoughts on Here Before
Themes – Here Before will give us a drama that is about tackling grief, acceptance and understanding about how lives are lived, with the pain of knowing what could happen by bringing the two families together. Here Before will do an excellent job of balancing what could be real or not in the mid of Laura, before giving us an outcome you wouldn’t have seen coming, keeping everything within the realms of a drama, without diving too heavily in the world of a thriller. The performance from Andrea Riseborough is fantastic, much like most of her recent roles, she is becoming one of the best in the business at the moment. The supporting cast is great too where young star Niamh Dornan comes through as the shining light.
Final Thoughts – Here Before is a hard hitting drama about grief and hope coming from the shattered lives.
