I have seen different adaptations of Jekyll & Hyde over the years, feature films and animated versions but I've never read the original tale. I love adaptations because I like to see what original spin a new adapter or translator puts on a well-known tale. I really enjoyed this version of Jekyll & Hyde, using a woman as the duo personality mad-man (or man-woman in this case). The quality of the performance and narrators is excellent. I haven't actually read the original version so I'm not sure how close or different it is. This adaptation seems very different than other versions I'm familiar with. It's very dark. Henriette Jekyll is a doctor, among the best in her field but she loves booze, parties and weird sex. She decides to turn this dark side of her personality into a separate being, Eleanor Hyde. That way she can booze it up, take coke and have wild orgies guilt-free. Things don't quite turn out like that as Eleanor becomes more and more dominant and dangerous. I really enjoyed this.
