Last weekend we went hiking around the Hechtsee (Hecht Lake) in Austria. It’s a popular destination for families and has a restaurant/cafe overlooking the lake. The fall colors were on full display with the trees seemingly competing each other for the “Most Colorful Award”, reminding me of why fall is my favorite time of year to hike. What a difference a few weeks makes compared to hiking the Herzogstand and Heimgarten when everything was green. What’s your favorite time of year for hiking?
