Hearts and Flowers Border by L. T. Smith

By Pamelascott

A visitor from her past jolts Laura Stewart into memories . some funny . some heart wrenching . but she needs to deal with all of them before she can open the door to allow her past to shape her future. A story starting in the present day, narrated by a woman who needs to retell her past before she can move on with her future. There is no fantastic underlying plot, just a simple retelling of events leading to the present day. Most of us will recognise the uncertainty of youth and the first flush of love.

I bought this years ago in a bookshop in Glasgow. This is my second time reading the book. I'm planning to re-read all of my books. The store closed years ago and I don't remember the name of it. I saw it recommended online. I love Hearts and Flowers Border and I'm a huge fan of the author. This is the first proper lesbian love story I ever read. It's also not all about sex with a lot of LGBT fiction from years ago tended to focus on. . I love the fact it uses a first person narrator. You really get inside Laura's head. I also like the fact the book shifts from past and present. This is a sweet story about first love and second chances. I'd recommend it.
