ABOUT THE BOOK: Delaney Blair loves her job at Echo Lake's Mercy Hospital, where she's developed a reputation for being smart, fair, and driven. When she's assigned to cut funding, she has to temporarily relocate her office, put on borrowed scrubs, and go toe-to-toe with Dr. Joshua Mackenzie, the interim head of the pediatrics department. His killer smile and rock-star body are distractions Delaney could do without, but she's determined to stay focused while she brings his budget into line. It's not working.
Beloved by his colleagues and patients alike, Josh is too busy caring for sick kids to talk numbers with the sexy, stiletto-clad Delaney. Every time they talk business, tensions run high…but so does a powerful attraction neither of them can ignore. When an emergency brings Mercy to its knees, Delaney and Josh must work together to save lives. But can they also find a way into each other's hearts.
MY REVIEW:
Heart Like Mine by Maggie McGinnis
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Heart like Mine by Maggie McGinnis is a 2016 St. Martin's Press Publication.
The author did a fantastic job of creating a lifelike situation that depicted all angles of a story. The dynamic between Delaney and Josh is a little tricky at first because, naturally, they see themselves as adversaries, in a way. I loved the nurses and secondary characters who added a lot of insight and humor to the story.
I love stories which depict situations that mirror real life problems because the characters tend to be more realistic and mature, and not so overly dramatic or selfish, with the angst levels set in low gear, giving the story so much more depth. We don’t get enough of these, in my opinion.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:
Maggie is a Golden Heart Finalist who started writing when her twins were infants and she was desperately seeking sanity. The fact that she found it only with imaginary people makes her a bit concerned, but at least they do what she tells them to ... usually.
She lives in New England, though she spends an inordinate amount of time on Arizona real estate sites in mid-January. While snow piles up to her windowsills, she cyber-stalks the blue skies and pink houses of the Southwest.
She used to be an English teacher, a certified black belt, and a cool-car driver. Then ... twins. Now she swills caffeine while driving the one vehicle she swore she'd never own: a minivan. It sort of hurts even to admit it.
