Healthy Snacks @ SmartEats

Jaipuri MixtureSomehow ‘healthy’ and ‘diet’ are two words that are commonly used interchangeably. It is not necessary to be on a diet to eat healthy. There are foods with more calories but good cholesterol will still be called healthy, though it is obviously not a diet food.

One thing that worries me most is not the main meal but chut-put that I keep munching during the day. Perhaps the same theme was kept in mind by smarteats.in that launched the idea of healthy snacks that is sent every month in a box with different recipes for just @Rs649 per month. And my friend, Sangeeta Khanna, who is also a nutritionist and recipe consultant to smarteats sent me a box to try.

Neatly packaged box was delivered at my home. Only issue with a foodie like me is I don’t know when to stop and the box also did not mentioned if the whole lot is to be eaten in one lot or portioned through the month. And if it is for the family or eaten alone! You see foodies need all the answers :)

PS: After finishing the entire box I noticed that serving size was also mentioned but perhaps I did not want to see it :)

Almond Plum CookiesComing to the box, all snacks were packed in reusable plastic pack. I first laid my hand on Almond Plum Cookies. A healthy whole wheat cookie with bits of almonds and little plum sauce on top, it was a winner all the way. The taste sinks to the heart and if this is healthy, I can live my life on this.

Masala Roasted NutsThe Magic Masala Roasted nuts is nothing but masaale waale almonds & cashews. We have eaten it all our lives and it does make a good snack with evening drinks. (Hope Sangeeta is not reading this). Roasted in sun flower oil, I loved the masala and its freshness

Festival FruitsWalnut Brownie Biscotti however was a bit of a disappointment. It was little tough for my taste. I opened the pack of Festival Fruits soon. Must say if eating healthy is so much fun, I can eat them all my life. Dehydrated strawberry, apple, black grapes done in sulfur free sugar and liquid glucose, they were over in no time.

Fruit Granula BarFruit Granola bar was crunchy and chewy bar with oats, almonds and some dehydrated fruits while the Jaipuri Mixture was a roasted mix of lentils, seeds, grams and peanuts. The entire box is sufficient for one month snacking for a person, and offers some interesting snacks rather than the normally available fried versions. I am already looking forward to my next month’s box.
