Health Insurance Solutions Part II

Over and over again, there is a solution to every problem, challenge, obstacle or other that we might worry about. Ecclesiastes 3: 1-8. The Affordable Care Act has never stated that the insurer should cut the underwriting process. Several elements to sell plans have been implemented to comply and comply with the law, including: essential health benefits which are all necessary; with the exception of pediatric dental and visual coverage, especially for someone who does not have minor children in their care.

The other element is the fact that carriers could no longer refuse coverage to consumers who have more than enough health problems with exorbitant premiums, terms in the insurance world "listed" due to pre-existing conditions.
This is the major problem facing the health sector and why insurers are unable to measure their risk by finding reasonable rates for the American people. It is a blow in the dark for insurance companies to play a guessing game of not knowing who has chronic health problems on a regular basis and what the cost would be to provide care accurately at prices reasonable. Actuaries calculate insurance for a purpose; to estimate the risk. No measuring stick, no wonder carriers have lost money in recent years and are ready to bail out.

Government participation in the insurance sector is to govern, not necessarily to manage the insurance sector. It is sad that the large carriers allow the government to dictate and exclude the main premise of insurance. This business is based on risk factors. There is no difference if you wanted to buy home, auto owners; or any other type of insurance, there are risks in insuring property. Our physical body is at higher risk because we are constantly moving moving objects, we get exhausted and break down from time to time and we need to be repaired and healed.

Why do insurers not discuss this fact with legislators? What are the chances of a mechanical breakdown with fixed buildings? Physical failure of buildings due to neglect and lack of maintenance, or if someone has physically damaged the property for any reason. When was the last time you purchased comprehensive insurance and your risk was not taken into account for the amount you will be billed in premium dollars? Well, it is no different with health insurance.

There is a solution and a plan that will work. These are not taxes, nor how many people will lose their coverage, reduce Medicaid, press the poor, the rich will get richer or whatever nonsense we hear from politicians. Insurers must be bold and follow the guidelines of the current law, return to the underwriting process, refuse any coverage and have affordable premiums based on risk as was the case in the past; affordable care law.

As consumers, it is our responsibility to take care of these earthly bodies and protect our finances while we are physically and financially able to do so. Are you going to wait for a chronic condition to invade you and then try to get coverage? It's like having a building already on fire, then calling an insurer to cover yourself. Be wise, get the protection you need while you are still insurable before your temple begins to deteriorate.
