Where were you born/grew up at?
Now this is a question that has a long answer. Well, not where I was born, that was in Middletown New York, but that’s not where I grew up. Between the time I was born and the time I graduated from high school, I attended 13 school and had 7 different address in 4 different states. By the time I was 30, I had added 14 more addresses to my list, and 5 more states. Out of all the places I have lived, I think that Sarasota Florida was my favorite. It was also at one of the most important parts of my life, when was 12-16. The memories that I have of that time are so fond. From my first love, to friends that I am still in contact with 35 years later!
What do you do to unwind and relax?
Short term, believe it or not, I clean. I know, funny! Not a lot but when I need my brain to stop turning, I liked to clean something. Or I climb in bed and catch up on one of my favorite television shows. My daughter and I have some we enjoy watching together. I also like to snuggle up with my hubby and watch movies! We do that quite often and somedays we don’t even get out of bed all day, but just watch movies and have picnics right there on top of the covers. If I really want to kick back and relax, then I want to be someplace where there is sun and water, and I’d prefer sand between my toes. In fact, just a couple weeks ago, my husband took me back to Sarasota for a few days at the beach to celebrate my 50th birthday. I love the warmth of the sun, the tickle of the breeze and the smell of the ocean. It energizes me more than another else.
When did you first consider yourself a writer? I guess it wasn’t until I published my third book that I really thought to myself, wow, I can do this, and I enjoy doing this. The first book was a trial, the second book was like, okay, and my third book was like – Okay – I got this!
What can we expect from you in the future?
In the future there might be another Heal Me Series book, but for the next year or so I’ll be focused on three different series. The Twisted Love Series that is an intense and sexy Police Procedural and Romantic Suspense series with two female detectives working in Philadelphia. I write this series with one of my best friends, Amy Manemann, and we currently have four books published with five more to come. The Pleasure Your Fantasies Series, which currently has two books published, Mistletoe Fantasies and Whispered Fantasies. The next book Secret Fantasies will be out later this year. This series is romantic suspense, and extremely sexy, like borderline erotic at times. There are at least four more book coming out in this series in the next two years. Rise Again Warrior Series – is a brand-new series that I just started working on. This series will be intense and emotional as it deals with military personnel personal issues after coming back to civilian life. There is a lot of pain, and anger in this series, and I am hoping to show people more of the behind the scenes into their lives. I’ve been speaking with veterans and medical personnel on this to give me a better understanding and I’m super excited about this series!
What is your favorite part of this series and why? Each book in this series has a special place for me. In Cured, it was the fact that the world had been created, and Colt helped Ember to find herself and trust in love. In Revived, I loved how Walker was able to communicate with Jasmines son, and the two of them had a bright future to look for. In Mended, I loved the relationship that Josey and Tucker had. I also loved the emotion that went into this book. You could feel Tucker’s pain, and Josey’s will to help him. In Rescued, Marisha and Jake had a playful vibe to them with a dead seated chemistry that was so easy to write, and I loved how Jake realized that he needed people to help him in his life.
Do your characters seem to hijack the story, or do you feel like you have the reigns of the story? My characters ALWAYS hijack the story. I can’t remember the last time I personally wrote a book. Nope, after I write the first couple of chapters, they forget about me and just keep going. I’m like, oh, hello!!!! Do you all remember me??? We are supposed to be doing this, not that. – But ironically, they are usually right, and what they do is better than what I came up with.
How long have you been writing?
I started writing my first book in October of 2010. I published it in April 2011 and three more that year. Since then I have published over forty books with 3-4 more coming this year!
Do you write one book at a time or do you have several going at a time?
I am notorious for writing more than one at a time. Right now, I have four that I am working on. People ask me all the time – how do you do that? Easy, I wait to see which characters want to talk, then I listen. Sometimes I have to tell them to take a back seat so I can focus on another book, but more times, I let them have the spotlight.
What makes a good story?
Personally, for me it’s emotion. I want a reader to be intrigued enough to want to keep reading. I’m very well known for putting a spin on things in the middle of a story. I want to be able to reach into a reader and make them feel what the character is feeling. If the character laughs, I want my readers to also. If they cry, I want to know. If I can make them feel the emotions, then I have done my job. It’s one of the reasons that I write real life most of the time. People die, people fall in love, people grieve and have issues. We can all relate to those, and I want my reads to relate to the characters. Follow the tour HERE for exclusive excerpts, guest posts and a giveaway! a Rafflecopter giveaway
