Headmasters Winter Blonde

By Blueoctober @blueoctober__
So last weekend I finally got round to getting my hair done - I hadn't it cut in almost six months, had awful roots and it was generally in very poor condition. Getting a brush through washed hair had become a 10 minute struggle every other morning and despite weekly conditioning treatments, using oils and a low heat when drying, my hair was in pretty awful nick. Step in, Headmasters! I was very kindly offered a hair over-haul from the lovely folk at the Notting Hill Headmasters, and last Sunday went in for a few hours of loveliness. To me, getting my hair done is The One, and Heastmasters running Treat Time just adds to that experience.

Now, I wanted a few things - to tone down the blonde which gets so brassy in the summer, but to still have a hint of lights, to take a couple of inches off the length, and to give me a bit more shape. The lovely Dan pointed me in the direction of Winter Blonde, which promises to "banish brassy yellow tones to create a luminous, healthy true blonde". Perfect. After a pre-wash which toned down the current blonde, Dan applied a lighter blonde and a darker shade using the balayage technique. This created a softer, more natural color than using foils which is exactly what I was after. When the dye had done its job, I was given a Kerastase treatment before Dan chopped into my locks. Seeing so much hair flying off my head was pretty nerve wracking (long hair is most definitely my safety blanket!) but looks and feels so much healthier now, without being super short. One bouncy blowdry later, and I was good to go. I really wish I could recreate a fancy blowdry at home but have zero coordination or skills! I was given a really handy tip though; if you do attempt a blowdry, hold the hairdryer on the nozzle (trunk?!) rather than handle, as it allows you to section your hair and makes more sense hand-wise. I'm going to try this at the weekend!headmasters winter blonde
Overall? I am one happy girl! The folks at Notting Hill Headmasters are so lovely, and if you are looking to get A* color (you can take the teacher out of the school...) I really recommend Dan. He's also definitely the one to go to if you want to discuss how close One Direction are to breakdown, Spice Girl obsessions, or talking about celebs like you're on first name terms. A lovely way to spend my Sunday afternoon!
