HBO has ordered to series a new half-hour dramedy (think Entourage) called Ballers. Dwayne Johnson lands his first series starring gig, leading a cast that also has Omar Benson Miller, John David Washington (Denzel’s son), Troy Garity, Rob Corddry, and Donovan Carter.
On Tuesday, they picked up The Brink, starring Jack Black and Tim Robbins, from a pilot directed by Jay Roach. HBO gets all the talent, yo. There are three huge stars involved in these projects that would never have touched a network TV show, but are glad to be involved in an HBO project.
