Hayden Thorpe, formerly of Wild Beasts, has shared the Alexandra Liveris-directed video for new single ‘Love Crimes’ ahead of the release of his debut solo album ‘Diviner’ on 24 May (Domino).
The song’s spacey and atmospheric opening recalls his old band as Hayden lays his heart bare and gives an honest admission of where his head’s at: ‘I’m not giving up on fear, I’m just giving up on us’. There are elements of powerful songwriters like Rufus Wainwright and Jeff Buckley as he tenderly sings how ‘Even the greatest of loves can be given up’ and how he’s done with ‘living a life of crime’.
