This was a complete surprise find for me today. I am sure that it is known and loved however by the people of Vauxhall. I think it is probably the best tea house I have ever been in.
My first mistake was to ask for a cup of coffee. I was told kindly that we don’t do coffee but we DO do tea. When presented with the menu I don’t think I have ever seen so many teas. A fuller range would be hard to find.
They don’t just do tea but a range of cakes and pastries and a good selection of sandwiches. If you want a traditional afternoon tea then they do that do at the tea house theatre with the obligatory layered cake stand. I will be back but next time will eat and stay for longer.
It is is really easy get to. Leave Vauxhall station by the tube end (which you have to do anyway) and go back on yourself under the gloomy tunnel. Enter the Vauxhall pleasure gardens and bear right to follow the path. You will soon be at the tea house theatre on your right. You will notice the distinctive flowered wheel barrows outside. Enjoy!
