Haredim Campaigning to Boycott Dati Lulav and Esrog Merchants..

By Gldmeier @gldmeier
A new cherem is in town.. this one is technically a retaliatory cherem.. Some Haredim have started a campaign in Haredi communities around Israel to ban the Dati Leumi. With a motif adopted from the motif of the Habayit Hayehudi election campaign, Haredi pashkevils have gone up in many towns calling for a ban from purchasing Lulav and Esrog sets from Dati Leumi - voters and supporters of Habayit Hayehudi.
The signs says "Something new is beginning.. this erev sukkos, we will all be mehadrin with our four species.. We will not buy 4 species from our enemies, from voters of Habayit Hayehudi... they chase us down, they have joined up with a group of wicked people to cut down the tree of life, the world of Torah... we will only buy from those who love Torah, not from those who hate it..
Haredim campaigning to boycott Dati lulav and esrog merchants..
While I am against bans and boycotts, this one is understandable, even if pointless... It is a retaliatory boycott, in return for the boycott on the haredi parties from being part of the government, and then budget cut after budget cut and law after law targeting the Haredi community. You boycott others, you are at risk of being boycotted as well.
It is as pointless and hypocritical as the BDS movement, as most people will buy whatever is priced well and competitively, and removing such a large amount of suppliers form the market will just cause prices to rise among the haredi merchants. Supply and demand. And if they are going to boycott Dati businessmen, why just for sukkos - boycott the farmers, the businessmen, the bankers, the doctors, the inventors, the manufacturers, the barbers, plumbers, pizza stores, lawyers, etc..  Besides for the collective punishment - just because someone wears a kippa sruga does not mean he voted for Habayit Hayehudi, but how else will someone be able to boycott a specific merchant?
