Today is the first birthday of the world’s most successful and expensive NFT collection. On April 22nd, at 7:13 PM EST, the deployer contract created the first 30 apes. The majority of these apes were given to web3’s founders and active members during the next 10 days. Many of them have kept their Apes and developed into community leaders. This year, the Bored Ape community has been steadily growing. It continues to astound its community and everyone interested in NFTs. At 130 ETH, it has the highest floor price.
Nobody could have foreseen that a.08 mint, distributed fairly (bonded curves are a ponzi scam), would become one of the most precious assets of all time. This means that you would have earned +2500 times your original investment today. Propel the web3 space forward and establish it as a cultural phenomenon. The public mint opened on 4/23, and @TomatoBAYC minted the first one at 5:56pm est—this was the strapping ape dressed as the Emperor with holo sunglasses and a tuxedo shirt.
After 24 hours of the public auction, 115 apes had been minted, including the 30 from the deployer contract. 11 hours would pass between the 115th and 116th mints, and then 12 hours would pass before the next one. There would be several transfers, but the first secondary sale would not happen for another week.
One year ago today, the Bored Ape Yacht Club mint began . . .

What an insane year. Here’s to many more to come. Happy Birthday, apes!
The Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC), sometimes referred to as Bored Ape, is a collection of non-fungible tokens (NFTs) built on the Ethereum network. In this collection, profile images of cartoon apes are generated procedurally by an algorithm. Yuga Labs is the parent company of Bored Ape Yacht Club. The project officially launched on April 23, 2021, with a live pre-sale. Owners of a Bored Ape NFT get access to an exclusive online club, unique in-person events, and intellectual property rights to the image.
As of 2022, the Bored Ape Yacht Club non-fungible tokens have sold for more than $1 billion, and celebrities have bought these non-fungible tokens. Among them are Justin Bieber, Jimmy Fallon, Snoop Dogg, Madonna, and DJ Steve Aoki.
