History Behind the Pasta

Things could get messy today being that the world is celebrating National Linguini Day! The salmon’s been seared, and the cream has thickened. Linguine, which translates to “little tongues” in Italian, originated in the Liguria region of Italy. Linguine was developed about 400 years ago and the noodle is a thin, flat noodle, with a narrow and elliptical shape causing it to be a more delicate pasta.  The pasta has been known for being in seafood dishes opposed to the normal meat sauces. The pasta tends to be paired with thinner, lighter sauces when served. Take a moment to imagine you’re there at one of the local cafes, taking in the wonderful aromas of good, swirling and twirling your fork around the linguini!

Oh, the Pastabilities!

Grab your apron and make homemade pasta. It isn’t that hard to make your very own pasta! For Linguine, the only handy equipment you’ll need is a pasta press. Then start with two eggs, a cup of flour and get your hands dirty and in no time at all you’ll have your own pasta!

If you aren’t quite the chef, buying some linguini at your local market is just fine. I suggest serve it up family style with all your friends and family around the table for some good eats and good conversation. Don’t have a recipe in mind?
