Hannah Georgas follows the release of her Aaron Dessner-produced album ‘All That Emotion’ back in September with a new version of ‘Pray It Away’ – and this time it’s a duet with Aaron’s The National bandmate, Matt Berninger.
Co-written by Aaron, this sublime slice of atmospheric Cat Power-esque chamber pop opens with Matt’s baroque vocals declaring ‘I’ve been afraid to tell you everything that’s going on in my head’ while Hannah joins forces in a harmony that declares ‘I’ve been wondering if you still love me’ over subtle glitches and stirring effects. Hannah takes the lead on the second verse (‘I don’t believe in all the things you do but that doesn’t matter to me’) reflecting the back-and-forth conversation between two souls trying to find a way through a difficult time.
