Five years ago, Haley Heynderickx and Max Garcia were strangers meeting for the first time but it didn’t take long for these two talented artists to form a bond and write the ‘Among Horses III*’.
15 million streams later and the duo have reunited to write a new single each to celebrate the anniversary of this very special release.
‘How Does the Horse Go Home’ is a country-tinged piece with Haley pondering growing up and trying to find herself amidst subtly jaunty acoustic hooks and a number of rhetorical questions, talking about how ‘separation slips like a sundial’, while ‘Ragweed’ finds Max taking the lead with a poignant rawness as he tries to make amends for past mistakes: ‘I’m sorry I couldn’t see anything’. He then offers an insight into his hopes that the subject can sort themselves out: ‘Are you using, are you chewing?’; ‘Are you in the weeds?
Two beautifully set and emotive songs that are a fine addition to the original collection…
*Among Horses is a collaborative writing and recording project from the Barcelona based label Son Canciones, counting 5 EP’s from 10 different artists so far.
