This post will focus on each Montreal Canadiens player's even-strength risk/reward rating, scoring-chance for/against data, as well as their takeaway to giveaway ratio.
EVEN-STRENGTH RISK/REWARD RATING
Josh Gorges' play in the last 2 games has been exceptional, and has been good enough to more his ES risk/reward rating above both Andrei Markov and PK Subban.
Michael Bournival's risk/reward is through the roof, but it's important to note that it's been produced seeing limited action. Brendan Gallagher's rating demonstrates just how reliant the young winger has been on Alex Galchenyuk's strong play. Moen's high risk/reward is well above the average rating he's posted in each of the last 2 seasons.
EVEN-STRENGTH SCORING CHANCES FOR/AGAINST PER-MINUTE PLAYED
Jarred Tinordi is contributing to more scoring chances against per-minute of even-strength ice-time than any other Montreal player (outside of George Parros). PK Subban is allowing substantially more scoring chances against per-minute than he did last season.
Ryan White contributed the fewest scoring chances-for per-minute last season, but his recent play has allowed him to contribute some offensive-chances; the same can be said for Travis Moen. Lars Eller, Brendan Gallagher, and Alex Galchenyuk are big scoring chance producers, while Galchenyuk, and Daniel Briere have yet to be responsible for a scoring-chance against.
EVEN-STRENGTH TAKEAWAY TO GIVEAWAY RATIO
Gorges strong play comes through loudly in this graph. Number 26 has produced over 3 takeaways for every 1 giveaway this season. Markov is also doing well in this category.
Among forwards, Galchenyuk, Moen and Eller are keeping the giveaways down, while also keeping the takeaways up. David Desharnais is also showing surprisingly well in this graph.
Max Pacioretty is well below his numbers from last season.
