HABS; Player-by-player Percentages of Total Events with Possession in the Offensive-zone

This post will focus on the percentage of each Montreal Canadiens player's total events that occurred with puck-possession in the offensive-zone. Percentage of events spent with possession is calculated by dividing the number of events each player engages-in with puck-possession in the offensive-zone , by the total amount of events (defensive or with possession; all zones). Offensive-zone puck-possession events include any attempt to pass, deke, or shoot while in the offensive-zone.
A higher-percentage indicates that the player spent more time attempting to create offense in the offensive-zone, and less time defending, or with possession in the neutral, and defensive-zones. The BLACK line represents the players percentage during the season, while the BLUE line shows their percentage during game 1 versus the Tampa Bay Lightning, and the GREEN line shows their number from game 2.
Just a quick look at the team total shows us that the Habs actually spent more time with possession in the offensive-zone against the Lightning during game 1 than they did in game 2. Among defensemen, Josh Gorges uncharacteristically produced the highest percentage of offensive-zone puck-possession events in game 2, while Brandon Prust, Rene Bourque and Thomas Vanek led the forwards in game 2.
The wingers were the only position players to put up similar numbers in both games; the centres, and defensemen all produced lower percentages in game 2. Daniel Briere, David Desharnais, Vanek, and Micheal Bournival are the only players to produce a higher percentage than their season averages in both games 1 and 2.
