HABS: Patrick Holland's Preseason Numbers

By Kicks @Chrisboucher73
Solid defensive numbers
The below numbers reflect the play of Patrick Holland during the 2013 preseason. Holland had just over 32 minutes of even-strength ice-time during the preseason. He produced a slightly below-average even-strength risk/reward rating, but produced solid defensive-numbers.
He had a success-rate of 66.7% when attempting to remove puck-possession from the opposition; slightly above the average produced by Montreal centremen during the preseason. His o-touch success-rate was slightly below-average, as he was successful with 59.7% of his attempts to successful complete a deke, pass, dump-in, or shot-on-net.
Holland's short-handed ratio was well above average. The same can be said for his defensive-success-rate while short-handed. That said, he only experienced 4-plus minutes of short-handed ice-time.
OTHER NOTES
Holland produced a below-average offensive-zone risk/reward rating while playing at even-strength, but his defensive-zone risk/reward rating was above-average.
His offensive-zone risk/reward rating was actually hurt by a low success-rate when attempting to remove puck-possession from the opposition, as his o-touch success-rate in the offensive-zone was above-average.
His defensive-zone d-touch success-rate was an impressive 24 percentage-points above the average produced by Montreal centres; he was successful with an exceptional 87.5% of his attempts to remove puck-possession from the opposition in the defensive-zone.
His o-touch success-rate in the d-zone was actually below-average. This was the product of a 60% success-rate when attempting a pass while in the defensive-zone, as well as a 50% success-rate when attempting to beat a player 1on1 (deke) in the defensive-zone.

Holland remains a solid defensive-player. He doesn't have great size, but his stick is NHL-level. Holland will focus on the defensive-side of the puck, and is unlikely to hurt the team if used in a defensive-role.
