Habs: Numbers from Markov's First Game

By Kicks @Chrisboucher73
Force on powerplay; understandably still finding way at even-strength
OVERALL GRADE
Markov's overall grade was carried by his work on the powerplay. He only produced one unsuccessful event on the PP, while contributing a beautiful one-touch assist on PK Subban's PP goal. Markov's even-strength grade was below-average. As an intersting side-note; Alexei Emelin, who played with Markov, produced his highest overall risk/reward in 22 games.

EVEN-STRENGTH RISK/REWARD
Markov's even-strength risk/reward rating was below-average. He kept his game as simple as possible, as 82% of his puck-possession events occurred in the defensive-zone, while only 8% occurred in the offensive-zone; leaving 10% for the neutral-zone. His total events per-minute played were actually higher than expected, and increased substantially as the game wore on. He ended the game with an even-strength ratio of 1.55 successful plays for every 1 unsuccessful play.

OFFENSIVE-ZONE
Markov had an offensive-zone risk/reward of 0.00, and an o-zone ratio of 1 successful play for every 1 unsuccessful play. As mentioned earlier, he was not very involved in the offensive-zone; producing only 4 total o-zone events at even-strength. He recovered 1 loose-puck, and failed to hit the net with his only attempted shot.

DEFENSIVE-ZONE
Markov produced a below-average defensive-zone risk/reward of 0.40, and a d-zone ratio of 1.33 successful plays for every 1 unsuccessful play. He was understandably reluctant to engage along the boards. As such, he wasn't able to utilize his best defensive tool; a strong stick. He recovered 9 loose-pucks, but won only 1 of 3 d-zone puck-battles. He  intercepted 2 opposition passes, and was successful with 11 of 20 d-zone pass-attempts.

POWERPLAY
Markov was a beast on the powerplay. He had an incredible PP ratio of 13 successful plays for every 1 unsuccessful play, and a PP rating of 5.26. Keep in mind that these numbers are impossible to reproduce long-term, but bode well for Markov's impact on the Habs' powerplay. He recovered 3 loose-pucks, and was successful with 8 of 9 PP passes.
