Habs: Defensemen Struggling to Get Shots Through

By Kicks @Chrisboucher73
Huge dip in shots-through compared to last season
Rebounds resulting from  point shots that make it through to the net are a substantial part of any team's offense. Compared to last season, this year's Montreal Canadiens defense is inexperienced. Players such as James Wisniewski, and Roman Hamrlik had impressive success-rates in this category compared to current defensemen Raphael Diaz, Alexei Emelin and Yannick Weber. While PK Subban has seen his own success-rate drop substantially.
The entire defense has only been able to get 42% of their shots through to the net this season (even-strength, powerplay, and short-handed). In comparison, last year's d-core was able to get an incredible 73% of their shots through to the net. Former Habs defensemenWisniewski and Hamrlik were able to get an identical 63% of  their shots through last year, while Paul Mara was successful with 83% of his shot-attempts.
This year's squad is led by PK Subban with a success-rate of only 47%, while veterans Chris Campoli (32%) and Tomas Kaberle (47%) have also struggled. Inexperienced defensemen, Emelin (38%), Weber (39%), and Diaz (31%) have also failed to get a majority of their shots through to the net.
The increase success-rate in shots-through by the Habs defensemen should produce an immediate and substantial increase in scoring chances.
