iPhone 16 Series Battery Capacity

Apple is expected to launch its next generation iPhone series by September this year. Speculations about the iPhone 16 series have been rife for the past few months. This lineup is going to come with quite a few changes, most notably the design. And now the battery details of the iPhone 16 series have come forward. Apart from the iPhone 16 Plus, the new iPhone lineup may have larger batteries than the previous ones, sources claim.

iPhone 16 Plus may not get battery upgrade

The iPhone 16 series battery information was revealed by tipsters Ovo and X (formerly Twitter) on Chinese microblogging website Weibo, Mazin Bu. Mazin compared the battery capacity of the iPhone 15 and iPhone 16 series, but did not share the battery capacity of the iPhone 16 Pro model. Ovo has revealed the battery capacity of all four models. The standard, Plus, Pro and Pro Max models of the current generation iPhone 15 series have batteries of 3,349 mAh, 4,383 mAh, 3,274 mAh and 4,422 mAh capacity respectively. And the same models of the upcoming iPhone 16 series are claimed to have 3,561 mAh, 4,006 mAh, 3,355 mAh and 4,676 mAh batteries.

It appears that the battery capacity of the iPhone 16, 16 Pro, and 16 Pro Max models will be upgraded. But surprisingly, the iPhone 16 Plus is claimed to have an 8.6% smaller battery than the iPhone 15 Plus.

Every year the Plus models of the iPhone series see bigger batteries. iPhone 14 Plus and iPhone 15 Plus – Both are known to offer amazing battery life. Notably, the iPhone 14 Plus and iPhone 15 Plus topped the list with 128 and 131 points respectively in DxOMark’s battery test at launch. Apple typically uses more efficient chipsets to increase battery capacity in their Plus models.

It is rumored that the iPhone 16 and 16 Plus models will come with the Apple A18 processor based on the 3 nanometer process. This could help the iPhone 16 Plus offer the same 26 hours of battery backup as its predecessor, despite the smaller battery size. The 3 nanometer process has so far been limited to the Pro models of the iPhone 15 series.

Note that these mentioned battery capacities of the iPhone 16 series have come out through unconfirmed sources, so whether they are accurate or not cannot be said for sure. We will have to wait for more reports to know what changes Apple is planning to bring to this year’s Plus model.
