John Wesley French Jr. was arrested Thursday for allegedly shooting and killing his 8-year-old daughter, Sheriff Kirk Taylor said.The gun belonged to granddad, but since they all lived together in the trailer it was accessible to the mixed-up son and the 8-year-old daughter too, for that matter.
French, 32, is suspected of shooting Desirea French at close range in their mobile home and then turning the gun on himself.
French survived gunshots to the head and hand. He reportedly told detectives at the hospital, "I can't believe I did that to my daughter," and, "It was obviously me, no one else was there."
A near-complete lack of gun control is responsible for this. We do not have to accept incidents like this as part of the deal. This is too high a price to pay for what some people mistakenly call "freedom."
