Story: Gully starts as we meet the three teenagers Jesse (Harrison Jr), Calvin (Latimore) and Nicky (Plummer) who have all suffered childhood traumas in the rough streets of LA, supporting each other now, they will always sick together, but they will have problems in everyday life.
As the three friends turn to a violent 48-hours they will find themselves unleashing the built up anger inside, but at a price they could imagine or prepare for.
Thoughts on Gully
Thoughts – Gully is a rough crime drama showing the lives of teenagers in LA that have been through traumatic experiences without getting any chance to recover, leading to the dangerous behavior as they are about to break into adulthood. Gully will highlight just how dangerous not treating victims can be, the side effects it will cause for life and the consequences of the circle never been broken it will have on the next generation. We do get one character in the film that has been through and wants to help solve the problems, but he is always on the outside, seen as someone different, never embraced by anyone in the neighbourhood. The three friends do have great chemistry together and seeing how Calvin changes his visions of reality to cope with everything is brilliant special effects use, when you aren’t expecting it. Gully is filled with powerful performances from the cast including Kelvin Harrison Jr, Jacob Latimore, Charlie Plummer and Jonathan Majors, where each of them will get a big moment to shine in the film. Some of Gully will not be an easy watch, but that is because we are seeing how the trauma happens and has been wrongfully dealt with, leading to more danger to the characters.
Final Thoughts – Gully is a hard-hitting crime drama showing how difficult trauma can be to recover from.
