If you are considering an upgrade from Samsung Galaxy S4 to Galaxy S5, but wondering whether you should go for it or not, then this post might help. In the review below, we pit brother against brother to see if Galaxy S5 is really worth the money and the effort.
Design: One area that the tech market hoped in which Samsung would improve with its new smartphone is the design. Sadly, the Galaxy S5 is far from the metal-plated hunk that we had all dreamt of. But the soft-touch rear feels and looks much better than the cheap-plastic backside of S4.
However, one big step forward is the S 5’s water-resistant coating. Its edges are properly sealed so you can take it in the shower or the pool and it still works fine. S4 would be dead in a nanosecond. The home button has also been replaced by a fingerprint scanner that can unlock the phone and even authorize online payments.
Screen: There is next to no difference between the S4’s and S5’s screens. The S4’s 5 inches AMOLED screen is boosted by just 0.1 inches. Picture quality is still flawless with bright and vibrant images flying to your eyeball. The viewing angles are wide and there is no distortion if the screen is tilted.
Performance: As we delve in, things look much sunnier. S4’s Snapdragon 600 processor is replaced with the slick new 801. The refreshingly streamlined TouchWiz interface, when combined with the efficient processor eliminates all the objections we had with the previous model. Moreover, there is no more stuttering in sight when flicking around the desktop and loading apps.
Samsung has also made several other tweaks to speed up the performance of S5. For instance with the Download Booster mode, the user can download huge files easily by combining the power of 4G and WiFi. As far as performance is concerned, S5 is a clear winner.
Camera: Galaxy S4’s 13-megapixel camera has been replaced with a 16-megapixel snapper but we did not notice any major differences in the picture quality. S5 does take the snaps faster, all thanks to the 801 processor.
All in all, the various features and specifications of Samsung Galaxy S5 make it a worthy buy. However, one might still say there are not many major differences between the older model and its new iteration.
