Rebecca is yet another lovely Shaped by Style blogger who brings the tall-and-gorgeous quota up for us along with Lyndsey (seriously, these women are all just amazing aren’t they?) and I absolutely love the different aspect she brings to blogging. She recently transitioned over to a new site, and her blog is going to be full of great things — fashion, finance, and fitness? I am definitely eager to read each new post!
When Kristina asked me (Rebecca from Three Things Great) to do a guest post on her blog with a “pink” theme I immediately knew that I wanted to share some decorating inspiration with pink elements as well as some tips for decorating a nursery.

Pink decor and tried and true tips for decorating a nursery!
Nursery Decorating Tip #1
Position the crib away far away from the window. Positioning the crib away from the windows is best for three reasons:
– once your baby can pull themselves up to standing they will entertain themselves for hours pulling at the curtains until oops- they’ve pulled the curtains clean off the wall
– being further away from the window means less chills and drafts
-probably the most important reason for positioning the crib away from the window is the danger of broken glass or falling out the window (makes my heart ache just to think about this- keep your babes away from windows please!)
Nursery Decorating Tip #2
This tip actually has to do with glass as well (so many baby hazards aren’t there? yikes- how did we all survive?!). I recommend that if you have art or framed pictures in your nursery that you remove all the glass from the frames. I did this in my daughter’s room and slept much more soundly (er, well, actually no I didn’t- she woke me up at regular intervals!) knowing that if there was an earthquake that no broken glass would fall onto my babe.
Nursery Decorating Tip #3
Choose one item and build your color scheme around the colors in that item. This leads to a much more cohesive and put together effect. In the image above the carpet anchors the room and provides that color palette for accessories.
Nursery Decorating Tip #4
Fill the room full of colorful prints, art and photos of family. Babies love having pretty pictures with bright colors & eye catching shapes to stare at. Cluster a set of images around the changing table. This will (hopefully) keep baby occupied while you are changing their diaper.
