But tonight, he will not call Amelia to him. Tonight, another man will step into her world to claim her. Tonight, Amelia’s shattering reality will crumble - and disappear into the Dreamscape…along with her freedom.
When Amelia dreams tonight, her nightmare becomes her new world where Seth is her captor and anything is possible…except escape. Seth needs Amelia to break the curse that binds him to the Dreamscape. He must convince her that she was made to free him, that she was made to join him.
For if he fails, he will never escape his prison, and he will lose Earth to the Netherworld where the evil Erobos wait to consume the human realm and everything in it. If he fails, Seth will lose the one thing that matters to him: Amelia.

I’m very excited to be here today on Beauty but a Funny Girl blog to talk about dreams. First of all, what a cute name for a blog. Love it! Beauty and the Beast is one of my favorite stories of all time, and I was so delighted to see your button, Andrea!(I'm just gonna jump in here and say thanks, Christie! It's a favorite of mine, too - obviously!)
Dreams. What are they? Why do we have them?
I find it interesting that when we talk about our ambitions, we say we have a dream. When speaking literally of dreams I think of them as ethereal wisps that are hard to hold on to and even harder to interpret. Yet there are many ways we can escape into a dream that has nothing to do with sleep, at least, hopefully. Movies, song, even mediation allow us to experience life through the eyes of someone else, but my favorite way to escape into a dream is through a good book.
There’s nothing quite as thrilling as living another life within a few hours, and what better way to do that than through the imagination unleashed when reading. The best thing about reading, for me, is most times, I get to decide how a character looks; even the setting is mine to create, within the parameters an author sets. Movies are similar, but we only get a small view of what a world could be. It’s why so many times Movies based on books rarely live up to the books that inspired them. In essence, directors are aiming at a moving target. They couldn’t possibly recreate what each of us experience when we read.
I love the idea of dreams and have always been fascinated with them. Dreams play an important role in Dreamscape, the first book in my new Netherworld Series. In this world, anything is possible. It’s a place of wonder and imagination, yet for the characters, there is a threat to traversing the unnumbered worlds that can be molded by the mind and will. I’ve combined some mythology to create the basis for this world.I’ve also answered the question of where dreams come from.
Seth, the main male character in Dreamscape, came to me when I was writing the last book in my Elemental Enmity series. I was in the zone, writing and trying to wrap up the loose ends that needed to be addressed when Seth pushed his way into my mind. He showed me a vivid scene where he was standing in front of a girl he had captured, appraising her. His hope and his fear struck me and intrigued me. Seth had a very big problem and the girl he took was supposed to help him, but she was only interested in escape.
As the story progressed, I learned much about Seth and the Oneiroi (pronounced Oh-near-EE) he led.The Oneiroi are responsible for sending humans dreams, but since they uncovered a world of dark beings that one by one turned each Oneiroi to Erobos, the beings meant to protect us are losing the Earth to darkness. Only four Oneiroi remain and straddle a line of succumbing to the darkness.
Each has to find a way to fight the Erobos and Seth has recruited Amelia to help him with his tasks. He needs her to find the key to free him from his prison.
Let’s just say my Netherworld Series is a complicated world—where the world of dreams explores the concept of light and dark and finding the power to overcome inner and outer demons.
Dreams have a way of helping us make sense of our life. I still don’t understand dreams all that much, despite the research I did for this story, but if there are beings out there that send us dreams, I don’t mind. I believe there is much we can learn from our dreams.
There’s a lot we don’t understand about our world, but stories help us explore so many possibilities. Mine is just one road traveled. The best thing about dreams is the possibilities are endless.
So what do you think about dreams? I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments. Thanks for reading!
