Heya!
First of all thank you to the lovely Laura of Lollylovesx for letting me borrow her beautiful blog for a day…. What a doll!
I’m going to talk about getting good summer skin as we are in a funny time of year where the weather doesn’t know what to do with itself and it can really affect how we feel and how our skin appears. These are basic rules to follow for all skin types to make sure you have a good foundation for your makeup.
The first tip is the big old favorite that I’m sure you know but here goes….
SUPER SKIN TAKES EFFORT!

If you are really serious about changing your skin for the better you have to take it seriously and develop a routine that will fit within your daily life. The more effort you put in the better results you will get, simple!

Always take off your makeup & cleanse!

This is the one thing to do if you can’t do anything else. Taking off the day’s makeup and grime is important as it allows the skin to breathe and new cells to generate on the surface. When you are really tired on an evening and reach for a makeup wipe remember this is a quick fix and barely removes any of that dirt that has gone deep into the pores so get up and cleanse properly! This was a lesson I learnt the hard way and ended up with bad acne and eventually no excuses not to try cleansing my skin properly. I know it works because me and acne don’t see each other anymore….
Don’t Smoke!

This is an obvious one as it draws the oxygen away from the cells but I won’t preach on this… you know it already.
Don’t drink excessively or eat sooo much rubbish!

Yes I know I’m getting boring here but just do everything in moderation. Alcohol is not only dehydrating to the skin but contains sugars as most naughty foods do that really affect your body and especially the appearance of your skin. You get out what you put in as my mother always said… so drink lots of water and cut out the alcohol.

Invest in good skin care!

I think investing in good skincare is the same as doing the same in an amazing pair of shoes. It’s a worthy way to spend your money and can last you a long time whilst making you look and feel fabulous. Try to find products that suit your skin type and if you don’t know what that type is, give it a Google and research your skin. By knowing this crucial piece of info you can tailor your skin care routine to make sure it works for you.
The important products to get are a good cleanser (I find a balm based product better for my oily skin), a highly hydrating moisturiser (no matter what your skin type), a reliable skin serum (for extra vitamins etc) and if you have sensitive skin and eyes a gentle makeup remover.
Make your skin care routine as easy as 1,2,3!

Use those beautiful skin care products you have invested in wisely and regularly to really see those results fast. Keep it to simple steps you will remember and won’t get bored doing too quickly. Once you’re used to a routine you will stick to it.
Exfoliation..
Guest Post: Becky from Beloved Beauty
This is a key step in any skincare routine most people see as a difficult, skippable step. By exfoliating you are removing the top layer of dead skin cells plus any leftover makeup residue and again allowing the skins surface to breathe.  If you can do this once a week before bed with an exfoliator you will see and feel the difference. Now to be clear you can get different strengths of exfoliators to which the gentler ones can be used daily but only look into this after you have really tailored your routine and know your skin inside and out. Start with a basic exfoliator and see how you get on but remember to put moisture back into your skin straight after as exfoliators do strip the skin of moisture.
And once you’ve done these things you will see significant changes in your skin tone and texture and find applying makeup a lot easier and a lot more fun! I really love shopping for skincare and I’m sure you will too!
