Gucci: goodbye fashion shows, only two presentations per year, without seasons
An announcement entrusted to Instagram: Gucci it will no longer run fashion shows following the official fashion calendar, but at a rate that includes only two presentations per year. The creative director wrote it Alessandro Michele, with a series of posts entitled "Notes in silence", with which the designer explains his new project.
"In my tomorrow I will therefore abandon the tired ritual of seasonality and shows to regain possession of a new scan of time, more in keeping with my expressive need": words that leave little room for interpretation and announce a process already underway in the world of fashion. In fact, many designers and players in the sector have launched food for thought aimed at changing a frenetic chain capable of sometimes crushing the creativity called to undergo a tight schedule of releases and presentations.
Gucci 's decision follows the important announcements of Saint Laurent, of the National Chamber of Italian Fashion - which will present the first from 14 to 17 July 2020 Milan Digital Fashion Week , and of Giorgio Armani presented his new calendar of fashion shows men, women and high fashion: the first two collections will be presented in new ways in September 2020 and haute couture will be postponed to January 2021 and will return to Milan from Paris (here all the details).
Alessandro Michele writes: "We will meet only twice a year to share the chapters of a new story. These will be irregular, impertinent and deeply free chapters. They will be written mixing the rules and genres. They will feed on new spaces, linguistic codes and communication platforms ".
"I would like to abandon the paraphernalia of acronyms that colonized our world: cruise, pre-fall, spring-summer, fall-winter. They seem to me stale and undernourished words. Initials of an impersonal speech, the meaning of which we have lost ". And move on to the proposals, to the baptism of new terms: "will be names related, from time to time, to classical music: symphonies, rhapsodies, madrigals, nocturnal, overtures, concerts and minuets to dot my creative path".
