Matthew Keys, a journalist, said that the arrest is related to the recent Rockstar hack and possibly also to a security breach at Uber. He did this by citing a source who was said to know about the situation.
Keys said that the arrest was part of an investigation that was being done by the FBI.
“Police expected to give more details on arrest of 17-year-old Rockstar Games hacker later today, possible statement coming from the FBI later this morning/afternoon,” he Tweeter.

This week, transportation tech giant Uber said it was in touch with the FBI and US Department of Justice about a recent security breach and the person responsible, who could be the same hacker who leaked Rockstar’s GTA 6 game.
More than an hour of Grand Theft Auto 6 development footage was leaked on Sunday by an anonymous user posting on the GTA Forums website, in what is likely to go down as one of the most high-profile data breaches in the gaming industry’s history.
They asserted responsibility for the latest Uber data breach, which also has Slack at its core, and stated they received the stolen assets through an internal Slack channel.
Although it is unknown if the same hacker was responsible for both the GTA and Uber intrusions, Uber acknowledged the connection in a statement on Monday.
Uber stated that it thinks the attacker (or attackers) are connected to the Lapsus$ hacking collective, which has grown more active over the past year.
The hacking group, which may have its headquarters in South America, is suspected of being behind several cyberattacks against significant technology firms, including Nabidia, Microsoft, Ubisoft, Samsung, and Vodaphone.
“We recently suffered a network intrusion in which an unauthorized third party illegally accessed and downloaded confidential information from our systems, including early development footage for the next Grand Theft Auto,” it said. “At this time, we do not anticipate any disruption to our live game services nor any long-term effect on the development of our ongoing projects.”
“We are extremely disappointed to have any details of our next game shared with you all in this way. Our work on the next Grand Theft Auto game will continue as planned and we remain as committed as ever to delivering an experience to you, our players, that truly exceeds your expectations.”
