Taken during the inaugural Pike’s Peak Regional Airshow, this TBM is part of the collection of the National Museum of WWII Aviation. Grumman outsourced the production of this classic design in 1943 to General Motors. Avengers manufactured by GM were designated TBM. First flown in 1941, the Avenger served various countries as late as 1960. Actor Paul Newman was a rear gunner in one during the war.
