Piloting one of the most graceful piston-engined aircraft ever designed, Stew Dawson takes “Here Kitty Kitty” over a pair of P-38 Lightnings during his flight demonstration at the Planes of Fame airshow.  This example is part of the Lewis Air Legends collection based in San Antonio, TX.  First flown in 1943, it was delivered too late to see combat in World War II but saw action as a night fighter and attack aircraft during the Korean War.  The F7F was originally named the “Tomcat” but this name was rejected as it was considered too suggestive.  The name would be used much later for the Grumman F-14.  Nikon D7100 w/18-200mm.
