Grumman F3F-2

@ Colorado Springs Airport, CO

September 2017

This tubby biplane is one of four flyable survivors of this vintage carrier aircraft and was one of the highlights of the rainy 2017 Pikes Peak Regional Airshow.  This example is owned by the Greatest Generation Naval Museum in Colorado.  First flown in 1935, the Grumman F3F was the last American biplane fighter aircraft delivered to the United States Navy (or any American military branch).  Only 147 were produced. This design was ultimately developed into the much more successful F4F Wildcat.
