A Tomcat on display at Point Mugu Missile Park, this F-14 (158623, the 24th manufactured) was placed here in June 1995. This aircraft spent its entire service career here at the Pacific Missile Test Center in support of F-14 research, development, test and evaluation projects. This Tomcat was last flown on 8 January 1993 and retired from active service. Developed for the U.S. Navy after the collapse of the F-111B project, the Tomcat would be the first of the Teen Series fighters, designed incorporating Vietnam air combat experience. First flown in 1970, these movie-star aircraft served in the US Navy until retirement in 2006. With over 700 produced, an estimated 26 are still in service with the Islamic Republic of Iran Air Force.
