Grumman C-1A Trader

Grumman C-1A Trader

@ Santa Rosa, CA

August 2011

The Wings Over Wine Country airshow is a surprisingly good airshow considering the locale and that no jet teams are present.  This C-1 makes for a unique warbird, seen at rest before a flight demonstration.  As with most carrier based aircraft, the Trader has folding wings which reduce the wingspan from 70 feet to 27 feet. The Grumman C-1 Trader is a carrier onboard delivery (COD) variant of the Grumman S-2 Tracker. First flown in 1958, it served until retirement in 1988 when it was replaced by the Grumman C-2 Greyhound.  Only 87 of the type were built.  Nikon D70s w/35-70mm.
