I know, I know, I’m all kinds of late with this, but better late than never right? In April when I attended the New York GreenFest at the Javitz Center I ran into some great companies with some great products! I will be able to review some of them in the near future, so stay tuned!
Sprout Watches – This is a great company that I’ve been following for awhile. Their eco-fashion watches are made from biodegradable corn resin, bamboo, cork, organic cotton and mother of pearl conflict free diamonds. Plus, they’re CUTE!
Tiny But Mighty Popcorn – I did a double-take at this vendor’s table, because I had never seen corn husks so small before. But as I was standing there staring the the little things, Kevin (who was running the table) explained this variety of corn grows this way naturally and that smaller hulls mean less digestive problems and less picking popcorn out of your teeth! The taste, by the way is INCREDIBLE. I will definitely be reviewing more of this stuff soon. YUM!
Pursuit of Cleanliness – If you’ve been looking for an alternative to straight castile soap, then this is it. This product is an aloe/castile mix made from organic coconut and jojoba oils that can be used as a body wash, shampoo, dish soap and general cleaner. Plus you get more for your money, they have really cool fragrances like Golden Orange and Lemongrass Lane. (They also sell a nifty handsoap).
HankyBook - This is one of the cutest ideas I’ve ever seen. It’s a new take on the handkerchief that works like a pack of tissues. During cold season, this will be amazing!
Tick Tock Organic Insect Repellent - Not only is this insect repellent DEET free and all natural, it’s safe for children, the bottle is recyclable, AND a portion of every purchase is donated to the Lyme Research Alliance.
Care&s - These laundry “pellets” caught my eye, because unlike other “toss-in” laundry brands like Dropps, they are 100% biodegradable, and apparently can clean really well in cold water. They are also harmless to ingest (not that you would make a snack out of them or anything).
Primal Pet Food - I was REALLY happy when I ran into Janine at the Primal Pet Food Booth, because I’ve been looking for a healthy alternative to the expensive prescription cat food, my vet has my critters on. They offer both frozen as well as freeze-dried version that turn into wet food when water is added! (Great for travel) They have a nice variety of dog food as well.
Hawaiian Moon Aloe Cream – This is my second year in a row purchasing this product. It has helped everything from my brother’s excema to healing scratches on my skin. I’ve even used it as a moisturizer! It’s made with 100% Organic Aloe.
Kit’s Organic Bars – I got a chance to try these bars after myself and Yoli’s presentation at GreenFest, and I was pleasantly surprised to see that Clif Bar is the parent company. My berry bar really tasted good, was made with filling organic ingredients and it’s smaller size means you can keep the calories in check. (Not available everywhere until Fall 2013)
ELSA Dress – Yoli actually got a chance to wear an ELSA dress made by Maja and I was really taken with the simple, retro lines, and the fabulous quality of a bespoke dress. What’s also great is that ELSA makes her dresses available in 100% organic cotton and ships them in recyclable boxes. (Now that’s a worthwhile investment!)
