GREAT! is a new free-to-air entertainment network that will launch in the UK on 5/25/21. The domain name Great.tv was purchased by the new entity. Great.tv is redirecting to GreatTV.co.uk.

The GREAT! channel portfolio consists of GREAT! movies, GREAT! movies action, GREAT! movies classic and GREAT! tv. All of the channels will be available on Freeview, Sky, Virgin Media and Freesat. Source

Variety reported:

U.S. investment firm Narrative Capital has acquired Sony Pictures Television’s entire U.K. channels portfolio in a major deal, Variety can reveal.

The pact covers Sony’s seven free-to-air channels, including Sony Movies, Sony Movies Action, Sony Movies Classic, Sony Channel, POP, Tiny POP and POP Max, as well as the brands’ various digital assets.

The Sony-labeled channels will be rebranded, with a new look unveiled on May 25, and all brands will sit under the Narrative Entertainment banner.

Great.tv has a history right here at TheDomains.com. Mike Berkens once owned the domain name. He was paying $3K a year as a premium and when the flood gates opened in 2010 with new pricing for .tv he published an article that got a lot of traffic.

How Can ENOM Charge Me $3K A Year For A “Premium” .TV That Would Sell For A $435 One Time Payment?

So what would great.tv sell for if I let it drop and it became available for re-registration?

According to Name.com $435.

Right a one time payment of $435 would get you the domain Great.tv which I’m paying $3K per year to own.

After the one time payment of $435, it would then be subject to a normal renewal fee around $20 a year.

So how can Enom charge me $3K to renew a domain that would SELL for a $425 one time payment to someone else?

Eventually Mike played the game by securing the backorder and dropping the name and reacquiring it at Name.com.

The domain name was included in the portfolio sale to GoDaddy. The name had been at Namefind for years so it looks like they made the sale.
